He had to experience that for himself. And he did. Big time. He went through painful and confusing experiences in church as a teenager, the death of a beloved friend in college, and bouts of doubt and despair in graduate school.

For most of his young adult life, Stephen wrestled with God, ticked off that things weren’t as easy as he thought they should be. He even married the girl of his dreams, yet he still wasn’t happy. When God brought quadruplets into the fight, Stephen had no choice but to shout “Uncle!” and submit. That’s when he discovered something much better than happiness. He discovered joy.
